HARTFORD, CT- The Hershey Bears went on a three-game road trip during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend and swept all three games that began on Wednesday against the Springfield Thunderbirds with a 2-1 victory on Wednesday night.
The Bears then traveled to the XL Center for a weekend series against the Hartford Wolf Pack. On Friday night, the Bears did not waste any time getting on the scoreboard as they scored two first-period goals. Mike Vecchione put in a rebound 34 seconds into the opening period after Wolf Pack goaltender Louie Domingue made the initial save from a shot by Dylan McIlrath. Henrik Borgstrom would extend the lead for the Bears and the game-winning goal as he put Domingue blocker side at 16:16 to make it 2-0 for the Bears.
Tim Gettinger would get a goal for the Wolf Pack early in the third but it would not be enough for a come back as the Bears took the 2-1 victory on Friday night.
On Saturday, Wolf Pack goaltender Dylan Garland made 38 saves as the entire game went scoreless including overtime. It was onto the shootout as Jonny Brodzinski scored the Wolf Pack and Connor MacMichael scored in the first round for the Bears. Bobby Trivinigo and Sam Anas went for their perspective teams and were both denied.
It would be Mike Sgarbossa who would end the game and win it for the Bears as the Wolf Pack would lose their fourth game in a row at the XL Center.
The Bears will host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins tonight at the Giant Center with the drop of the puck at 7:00 p.m.
The next game for the Wolf Pack will be this Saturday night at the XL Center as for the first time in franchise history they will take on the Rockford Icehogs.
