Frk’s Hat Trick helps T-Birds defeat Laval Rocket on Pink In The Rink Night

SPRINGFIELD, MA- Martin Frk scored the hat-trick as the Springfield Thunderbirds defeated the Laval Rocket 5-2 this past Saturday as part of Pink in the Rink at the MassMutual Center

Frk scored his first goal of the game on an odd-man rush when Mitchell Hoelscher made the pass to Frk and Frk was able to accept top shelf to make it 1-0 with 13:24 remaining in the first period.

The Rocket would respond with 3:13 remaining in the first period as John Parker-Jones used the backhand to beat Hofer to even the score at 1-1.

There would be no scoring in the second period.

The T-Birds would go on a scoring spree in the third period. Hugh McGing would setup Austin Osmanski for his first AHL goal with 16:01 remaining in regulation to make it 2-1. Frk would score his second goal of the game 32 seconds later as he put in the rebound on former T-Birds goaltender Philippe Desrosiers after poking the puck from T-Birds forward Matthew Peca to make it 3-1.

Close to two minutes later, Thunderbirds would go up 4-1 as Mathias Lafferriere made the pass to McGing and McGing used the forehand to beat Desrosiers with 13:39 remaining in regulation.

T-Birds goaltender Joel Hofer tried to score a goal with three attempts. The first attempt he missed wide. On his second attempt, he hit the left goal post. Joel Teasdale would score for the rocket with 4:06 remaining in regulation to make it 4-2.

Hofer would try for the third attempt but the puck would hit the post. Frk was able to put the puck in the back of the net to complete the hat trick to make it 5-2.
