2024 Thompson Speedway Season Preview

THOMPSON, CT- ACT and PASS will be back at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park for the 2024 season. The schedule will be extended from six to 12 races for the 2024 season.

The season will kick off with the 50th annual Icebreaker that will be held on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7. The Monaco Modified Tri Track Series will make its debut on the 5/8-mile oval for a 100-lap event on the Saturday portion of the program. The PASS Super Late Models will also race 75 laps on Saturday. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will race on Sunday, April 7 as it will be the first of three appearances at the 5/8 mile oval.

The five Thompson Track divisions will begin their season. A new division will also make its debut at the 50th annual Icebreaker and for the 2024 season at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. The Sunoco 604 Modified Division will be a part of the weekend. A driver who wins a Sunoco 604 Modified race will get $1,500. The other divisions that will race at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park during the 2024 season will be the Thompson Late Models, SK Lights, Street Stocks, and the Mini Stocks.

The Outlaw Open Modifieds will make a return to Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park during the 2024 season.  The 50 lap Dash For Cash will take place throughout the season where the winner will go home with $5,000. The first one will take place on Memorial Day on Monday, May 27. The other ones will take place on Thursday, June 13 and 27, Thursday, July 25, Wednesday, August 7, Sunday, September 8, and Friday, October 11 as part of the 62nd annual Sunoco World Series of Racing.

On Wednesday August,14, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will return for their second appearance of the 2024 season on the 5/8-mile oval. The five Thompson divisions will join the program along with the New England Super Modified Series.

All five of the Thompson Track Divisions will get a chance to run double features during the season.

The season will end on the weekend of Friday, October 11-Sunday, October 13 with the 62nd annual Sunoco World Series of Racing that will feature the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, Sunoco 100 Outlaw Open Modified Series where the winner will go home with $10,000, a 50 lap $5,000 Dash for Cash with the Outlaw Open Modified Series will take place on the Friday portion of the program. The ACT Tour Late Models will make a return on Saturday, October 12 for a 75 lap race where the winner will go home with $5,000 to win and will also be a part of the Brookside Equipment Sales Southern New England Triple Crown. The PASS Super Late Models and the New England Supermodified Series will also be apart of the weekend. More divisions will be announced at a later date.

Drivers Registrations have been entered for the 2024 season for all of the Thompson five track divisions. Troy Talman has registered for the Sunoco 604 Modified Division. For the Thompson Late Model division, Ray Christian, III along with Jake Johnson, Woody Pitkat, Brian Tagg, and Ryan Morgan have registered a number for the 2024 season. The Street Stocks have received entries from veteran drivers, Larry Barnett and Ryan Waterman. Registration from the SK Lights have been received from Sami Anderson, Wayne Burroughs, JR, and John O’Sullivan and for the Mini Stocks, entries have been received from Kevin Moore, Dave Trudeau, along with Eric and Evan Bourgeois.

The 50th annual Icebreaker at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park is less than just four weeks away. The weekend kicks off on Friday, April 5 with an open practice and racing will be held on Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7 featuring the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series, PASS Super Late Models, along with the five Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park Track Divisions and more.

A full weekend schedule for the 50th annual Icebreaker will be announced in the near future.
